Invisible Laser Pointer

Cat can’t see lazer pointer?

Ok, I have 5 cats. 4 of them go nuts over the laser pointer, but one seems to not even see it when it’s two inches from her face. Is it possible she’s color blind towards red?? I feel bad for her, she seems to get a bit confused when she sees the others running around playing with something that is seemingly invisible!

With laser pointers, the cat’s prey drive is ignited but he can never feel or catch the prey which never allows him to complete the stalk-chase-catch-kill process. He is never successful in his efforts.

Some cats aren’t experienced enough to realize this and keep chasing things endlessly. Other cats become slightly nuts which may be related to OCD which may be related to stress. This happens with images on the TV like videos as well. It may have something to do with the way their brain works connecting (or not) with the refresh rate of the TV or the vibration in the laser light.

It might be a behavioral thing with more experienced cats choosing to ignore what they know they can’t actually catch. In nature, endlessly chasing inedible things doesn’t make any sense so this light chasing behavior isn’t normal.
