Laser Brother

Can you clean the rollers in a Brother laser printer drum unit?
We have a relatively new Brother HL 2035 laser printer that uses a Brother DR2005 drum unit. It seems that someone has run a piece of paper through it with fabric taped to the paper, in an attempt to print onto the fabric. The fabric and paper emerged, but a small quantity of tape has become stuck to one of the rollers. This leaves a repeating streak mark at approximately 10cm intervals down the page.
Can this be cleaned, or ‘printed out’ with use, or do we need an entirely new drum unit?
Thanks!
If it’s stuck to the actual drum (usually shiny green, almost metallic) then you need a new drum unit. You will never get it clean, and taking it off will damage the drum.
If it’s stuck to heater or transport rollers (usually black or brown) then you could try carefully picking it off, when the printer is cold.
Moral: only use a printer for what it’s designed for.

Young Machetes $5.95 If you think the cover art is scary, wait until you get a load of the music. The fifth album by the Blood Brothers steps up the intensity of its predecessor, 2004′s Crimes, with even more rapid-fire rhythms, thrashing guitars, and acerbic screaming. Imagine the Mars Volta undergoing electroshock treatment or Blonde Redhead at war with an army of feral cats. With Young Machetes, the Seattle punk gr… |

L.A. Is My Lady (Reis) $11.98 This album received a lot of publicity when it came out in 1984, chiefly because of the title track, a rather obvious attempt to rack up another hit along the lines of “Chicago” and “Theme from New York, New York.” Much better, however, are Sinatra’s renditions of standards such as “How Do You Keep the Music Playing?,” “Mack the Knife,” and “Stormy Weather.” Sinatra’s voice is showing its age, but… |
