Laser Micrometer
Laser CNC mill software?
I am about to start my 4th year research project, and one option is a CNC laser mill. I have access to the best Lasers and optics however I forsee one problem … software. To begin, I thought I’d take a simple JPEG image and engrave it onto something but I cant think of an algorithm to engrave in a fluid motion as opposed to a dot-matrix style engraving.
Are there software products that solve this (either open source or retail) with which you have had experience with and consider useful?
Secondly, if I were to aim for micromachining (lets say, a tolerance of 1 micrometer) are there high quality steppers that have the ability to step this small a distance?? If not this small, how small a distance per step could be achieved??

you should look in to mastercam.
mastercam is a very advanced software
