What’s your opinion on laser grips, on snub nose revolvers?

someone should mention it’s importance in shooting in the dark, like when an intruder is breaking into your home

hey Glacierwolf how about an Iron Maiden t-shirt and leather racing jacket hanging out with a 21 year old girl?
excuse me IRV, but a lasers narrow beam only illuminates it’s path, and can be difficult to see. A flashlight is easy to detect, not a laser

They are extremely handy in certain situations. They are not bulky these days, with the most popular styles being the Crimson Trace Lasergrips that will just have a small module sticking up off the top of the grip.

My problem is that the grip is different enough that it wasn’t nearly as comfortable as the factory-supplied Hogue Bantams on my S&W M340P AirLite. I handled them both and bought the model WITHOUT the Lasergrips because it was much more comfortable, and that was more important for me, as I do a lot of shooting, even with my snubbies.

Now, each grip fits each hand differently, though. If the Lasergrips (or whatever brand you find) is comfortable enough for you, go for it. Also, if it will be carried a lot and shot little, than grip comfort is not as high of a priority.

Snub-nosed revolvers (especially those with internal hammers like the Centennial design from S&W) have a great strength in their design in that they can be fired from pockets or other places where an automatic can jam, but a revolver won’t. Having a laser can give you aimed fire in times when you don’t have the time or ability to bring the sidearm up for aiming. No, the laser won’t work from inside a pocket, but it will from within the confines of an open coat, for example.

A laser sight is also another level of deterrent that may be useful to prevent having to fire a shot to stop an attack. Options are always good.

Additionally, I also removed the Lasergrips from my fullsize Kimber .45. I actually prefer the Ergo Grips enough that the Lasergrips just sit in the parts box.
