Can you imagine forking out tens of thousands of dollars on a fairytale extravaganza for your kid’s second birthday party or a superhero party for your little superman’s fourth anniversary of his arrival in the world? Probably not – but then you’re probably not in the same league as Tom Cruise and Gwen Stefani!.
According to reports, these A-listers spared no expense in giving their Tinsteltown tots birthday party spectaculars that would be worthy of any Hollywood production. Stefani and hubby Gavin Rossdale reportedly forked out $10 000 for their son Kingston’s action-man birthday party for 100 guests whilst the Cruise/Holmes team parted with a reported $100 000 on baby Suri’s butterfly-themed second birthday bash.
Other celebrity kids’ parties are equally impressive – or entirely frivolous and indulgent depending on which way you look at it. Britney’s two boys had a car and truck party theme for their shared celebrations recently which included mini-motorised trucks customised for Ed Hardy, whilst Alice in Wonderland was the theme for Geri Halliwell’s two year old daughter Bluebell’s party. The Beckham boys (both big and small) are known to enjoy a good party, so for Romeo’s eight birthday, it was laser tag whilst brother Cruz chose a superhero themed party at a Hollywood martial arts centre.
But there’s no need to go over the top or dig deep to have a successful kids’ birthday party. There are endless ideas for party themes that don’t have to break the bank to be a huge success. Fun on a shoestring is possible – and talk to your local party supply shop for their ideas or trawl the internet for great ideas and activities for all ages.
For a kids’ party, a piñata is a great idea and is guaranteed to get the kids completely (over) excited when it comes to bashing the bounty !. Pinatas are also on the hit-list (excuse the pun) for celebrity kids’ parties, with Katie Holmes recently heard telling Ryan Seacrest on his radio show that Suri has set her heart on one for her next birthday party. OK, the smart money may be on the piñata treats to be a notch or two above regular candies and plastic toys for the Cruise bash, but who minds? The fun is in the bashing.
Kids’ birthday parties don’t have to be mega-buck gala events to be successful. Whilst there’s no debating that Hollywood does do birthdays on a massive scale, and we can all drool over the paparazzi pics of Pax or Shiloh or Jayden or Apple at their themed parties, but there’s no reason that ordinary celebrations can be extraordinary. All you need is a some great ideas (possibly helped by a quick visit to your local party supply shop), a dash of creativity and a bit of effort and you child can be the star of their very own (birthday) show!.
